Lisa Shaffer

(President)

I live in sunny Gilbert, AZ and am married to Brian. We have 5 kids, Alex, Morgan, Madison, Mackenzie and Emily who range in ages from 26 – 20. In my free time I enjoy hiking, swimming and just enjoying time with friends. I work full time as a technical analyst in research and development at State Farm and have been with the company for almost 20 years. I am involved in the foundation because I am passionate about keeping my sister’s legacy alive and want to ensure the gifts I have been given (that’s what I call them) are shared to accomplish this. Please feel free to reach out to me, or any of the members of the Board of Directors, with questions/comments and if you would like to know more about ways to get involved we would love the support! #wwkd

Brett Yancy

(Vice-President)

I don’t recall the exact moment I met Kelsey but it was sometime around 1991 through our mutual friend. She didn’t care for me much back then, but as fate would have it, our friendship would blossom nearly 20 years later when we became co-workers at a local medical office.
I was immediately drawn to her compassion for our patients and her uncanny ability to lead others without even trying to be a leader. She had the most incredible way of committing to every project, every assignment, and more importantly, every person, with her whole mind and heart. When you were with Kelsey, she gave you her 100 percent attention like no one else I have ever met.
During the course of nearly a decade of working together, she became my most trusted ally and closest friend. I relied on her sound advice, her attention to detail and her critical judgment skills as I designed / implemented many of the most challenging tasks of my career. She was my right-hand man.
I was utterly devastated when I received the call from Jeremy the morning she passed away. I could not imagine a day going by without seeing her, or asking her advice, or bouncing another wild idea off her, or just laughing with her. I am not the same person without her but I am a better man today because of her.
Over the following months I came to realize that everyone who Kelsey knew felt the same way about her as I did. They even had the same relationship with her as I did. We all called her for advice, we all bounced ideas off her and we all loved to laugh with her. She was everyone’s most trusted ally. Not just mine! I have pondered our relationship over and over and often wonder if I was as good of a friend to her as she was to me. Looking back, I wish I would’ve done more to serve her, support her, and show her how much I appreciated and loved her.
When Kelsey’s family told me about the WWKD foundation and asked me to be a part of raising funds to build homes in Haiti in Kelsey’s name, I felt like this was a fantastic way for me to be Kelsey’s right-hand man for once and continue the work she was so passionate about. This was also a great way for her daughters to walk in their mother’s sacred footsteps and experience first-hand Kelsey’s legacy of devotion to serve her family, friends and those less fortunate than her.

(Treasurer & Chairperson for Finance Committee)

Hi there! Just a little info about me!
I’m a stay at home mom with not enough hours in the day! I’m married to my patient husband Nick and have two wonderful girls, Addison and Bristol. I also homeschool my girls and in our free time we love to travel!
I volunteer with the WWKD foundation and it’s my pleasure to serve with this amazing foundation in honor of my sister. Many great things to come with the works of WWKD and we hope to touch as many people as possible.

Sarah Wood

(Secretary)

I am from Puyallup, WA. I am a Mom to four amazing kids! Kylee (21), Isaiah (14), Aliya (12), and Lexci (9). I work full time for Cardinal Health as an Inventory Analyst and we spend a lot of our spare time on baseball fields (we have 2 1⁄2 months off a year). Being a part of this foundation is important to me for many reasons. Kelsey and I are 15 months apart and she was my best friend (we never had the sibling arguments, we were just always best friends). Kelsey loved Haiti and talked about it with such passion and love! I knew it was something I wanted to do after her she came home the first time. When Annabelle said that it was what she wanted to do for her Senior trip, Kelsey started planting the seed for me to be able to attend too and we were both really looking forward to it. This foundation is important to me because it carries on the love she had and I feel it’s still her bringing people together and closer to Christ. #wwkd
One of Kelsey’s favorites:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” – Colossians 3:23-24

Kim Rodgers

(Chairperson Development Committee)

I’m Kim Rodgers, mother of six amazing adults, grandmother to 17, co-owner of Your Travel Experts and most importantly, I was fortunate enough to be Kelsey’s mother. She was my daughter, my friend, my confidant. Someone I laughed with, hugged on, cried with, prayed with and over. She taught me love…so much love. And I can’t begin to ever express how much I miss her. Her smile…and that laugh! As I write through tears I know that she would not want us moping around. That was not her way. And so, we built a foundation. We are building houses. We are going to make Haiti sustainable. We will take each step and make each thing happen as it should. She will walk beside us, because ultimately, this is what she would do. Welcome to WWKD! We are so happy you joined us!

Janelle LaFord

I live in Kennewick, WA and am a single mom of two very beautiful girls. Kambrie Jade is 10 and Kinleigh Jeanne is 6. I work full time for Kadlec at the West Kennewick office, and I am going to school to finish my Bachelor’s in Business Leadership and a Minor in Psychology. I am just over half-way done and in the top 10% of my class with a 3.88 GPA. In my free time I enjoy traveling, concerts, camping, volunteering for our local Make-A-Wish chapter, and spending time with my family and friends. I am involved in WWKD because Kelsey made a huge impact on my life during the three years we worked together, and I want to be able to give back in her honor.
