Dear Friends of WWKD,

Imagine what it’s like to find you have no water at your house. Maybe a pipe burst and everything is suddenly shut down. Frustration… Irritation… Panic? Maybe even appreciation for a quick fix so you can get back to routine? You get the picture.

Now imagine what it’s like to never have running water at your house, or on your block, or even in your village. That’s the reality for some families in Haiti. No clean running water anywhere around. Almost impossible to imagine. But true! The people of one small village must drive 25 miles to a well where they purchase their water. Sometimes they have to make the trip twice in one day. With your help, WWKD is going to do something about that.

WWKD Foundation’s mission is to assist the people of Haiti in creating a sustainable environment. This continues the work begun by Kelsey Foss, who gives us inspiration. Kelsey was passionate about helping the people of Haiti. One way we can continue her legacy is to make available clean drinking water for people who are without. To this end, our second annual dinner and auction will be held in Puyallup on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Station House 726, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The goal for this year’s auction is $30,000, which will allow us, working with a local Haitian company, to drill the well and bring water to the people.

Haiti is the second most populous country in the Caribbean and yet it is the lowest on the Human Development Index in the Americas, as compiled by the United Nations. Over 50% of the population lives in extreme poverty, earning less than $2.00 a day.

You can help make this auction a huge success with a donation of a product or a service from your business or personally. It will be greatly appreciated by all of us and by the people of Haiti. There are no paid positions at WWKD. It is all volunteer workers, so the funds can go directly to the people of Haiti. WWKD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Thank you for consideration of our request,

Lisa Shaffer,
President WWKD
